Just in time for the Friday before Father’s Day, George Lopez stars in the comedy “Mr. Troop Mom” (7 p.m., Nickelodeon). He’s Eddie Serrano, a single father and harried lawyer who is often too busy to attend his daughter, Naomi’s (Daniela Bobadilla), school pageants and plays.

Out of guilt, he agrees to participate as a camp “Mother” at a weekend of camping and furious outdoor competitions. Shenanigans ensue on the ropes and in games of capture the flag, etc. This being a G-rated kids’ comedy, there’s also time for father-daughter bonding. Jane Lynch (“Glee,” “40 Year Old Virgin”) co-stars as a no-nonsense camp director. Nat and Alex Wolff of “The Naked Brothers Band” also cameo.

• “20/20” (9 p.m., ABC) presents a report on the lingering effects of recession and unemployment. “The New Normal” marshals talent and resources from a number of ABC news shows as well as from ABC radio to interview consumers who have cut back on spending and increased savings. “Normal” also presents results of recent polling showing emerging trends and changing attitudes toward spending, saving and debt that may change the shape and direction of the economy.

• Can you assassinate the character of a man who has already been assassinated? If anybody can, it’s Bill O’Reilly, host of “The Factor” (7 p.m., Fox News). For years, O’Reilly used his program to vilify Kansas abortion provider Dr. George Tiller, calling him a Nazi, a baby killer and worse. Some weeks back, a zealot shot and killed Tiller while he was attending church services.

A sane and reasonable man would probably find this sobering. A time for a little reflection and respectful silence. A moment to cool down the rhetoric, if only out of concern for public safety. But O’Reilly is not a reasonable man. In the weeks since Tiller’s murder, he has used his program repeatedly to further attack Tiller and insult anyone who doesn’t agree with the official O’Reilly position. When one beleaguered guest noted that the procedures that Tiller performed were “legal,” O’Reilly screamed at her, cut her off and said she had “blood on her hands.”

That’s an interesting remark coming from the “Factor” host. His obvious fixation on Tiller’s murder and his possible role in inciting it with violent rhetoric and righteous fulmination has turned O’Reilly into the Lady MacBeth of cable news. Night after night, he tries to wash his hands clean, but the dreadful stain just won’t go away.
