As The Oread goes up, another road is about to close down.

Ongoing construction of the hotel and condominium project, just north of Kansas University’s main campus, is spurring the scheduled closure of 11th Street, from Indiana to Mississippi streets.

The closure is set to begin Thursday and last into this summer, as crews replace a sewer line and rebuild the intersection of 11th and Indiana streets. The work will eliminate through traffic, although access for local traffic will be maintained.

The closure will join at least two others already in place for the area in association with the project: Indiana, from 11th to 12th streets; and Oread Avenue, from 12th to 13th streets.

The Oread is expected to open in spring 2010.
