KU professor named dean at Washburn’s Nursing School

Monica Scheibmeier, an associate professor at the Kansas University School of Nursing, has been named as the new dean of the Washburn University School of Nursing.

Scheibmeier replaces Cynthia Hornberger, of Lawrence, who will remain on the faculty at Washburn and will return to teaching full time.

Scheibmeier has been a member of the KU faculty since 1995, and will assume her new position Aug. 1.

Using the latest figures available at both schools, Washburn’s nursing school has an enrollment of 311, including bachelor’s and master’s degree students. KU’s school enrolls 711 students, including undergraduate and graduate students and participants in a certificate program and post-graduate work.
