A Fort Leavenworth military history professor will give a seminar on the history of weapons on Thursday at Kansas University.

Shawn Faulkner will make the presentation and display several weapons in his personal collection at 3 p.m. in the Military Science Building, 1520 Summerfield Hall Drive.

A few of the weapons Faulkner will present are a medieval hand cannon, an 1864 Springfield rifled musket, a 45.70 trapdoor Springfield rifle, an M1886 Lebel rifle and a Thompson submachine gun.

Faulkner is a professor in the fort’s Command and General Staff College. Army, Air Force and Navy ROTC cadets will attend the presentation. It also is open to the public but reservations are necessary. Call Capt. Aaron Cornett, 864-1111, or e-mail him at aaroncornett@ku.edu.
