LHS loses dual with Leavenworth

? Chad Boyd had boys high series, but Lawrence High lost a bowling dual Monday with Leavenworth High.

The Pioneers won the boys title with a pinfall total of 2,397 to Lawrence’s 2,388.

On the girls side, Leavenworth won, 2,166 pins to 1,694.

Boyd’s high series was 628.

Alexah Gudenkau had high series for the girls at 518.

“It was an educational match for us,” Lawrence coach Tom Birt said. “The oil was on the outside of the lanes, but it was dry near the middle. That’s the opposite of what we’re used to bowling at Royal Crest. If we had figured out the lanes a little bit earlier, in the first games instead of the second games, we might have done a little bit better.

“This is the third time we’ve played Leavenworth this year. It’s been back and forth every time. This time, it went to them on their home alley.”

The Lions will travel Thursday to Olathe.
