City commissioners delay action on development issues

City commissioners have deferred two items from their meeting tonight.

Commissioners will delay taking any action on a proposed industrial chapter for Horizon 2020. Commissioners were scheduled to give the chapter final approval, but Douglas County commissioners earlier this week rescinded their previous support for the chapter. Concerns over how much protection prime farm land should be given, have delayed passage of the chapter.

The city’s new meeting agenda indicates the topic could be brought up at the city’s Feb. 3 meeting.

Commissioners also are delaying discussion of new regulations that would spell out what type of “environmentally sensitive areas” must be protected from future development.

The agenda indicates that discussion will happen on Feb. 10.
