LHS senior tells staffer he took gun to school last week

Police are investigating a Lawrence High School senior who brought a gun to school on Friday.

The high school contacted Lawrence police Tuesday, after the student reported he had brought the weapon to school.

The student’s parents were notified and disciplinary action was taken against the student.

According to the student handbook, bringing a weapon to school can result in long-term suspension or expulsion.

Lawrence High School principal Steve Nilhas notified parents Thursday of the incident using the district’s SchoolMessenger notification system.
