Humane society helps animals

Editor’s note: Today’s letters to the editor are from Southwest Junior High students learning about persuasive writing.

To the editor:

I am writing about the Lawrence Humane Society. According to Lawrencehumane.org 7,000 animals are at the humane society every year. Also the Humane Society has helped over 1,200 animals find their owners. I would like to recognize the Humane Society and all their volunteers and say thank you.

I think more people should adopt an animal from the Humane Society or donate some money. The Humane Society is a very good organization and helps lots of animals in need. If you ever have some free time, you can sign up to take a class to become a volunteer at the Humane Society. If you become a volunteer, you can play with the animals and have fun helping taking care of them.

If you would like to donate, some of the items on their wish list are canned dog or cat food, stainless steel bowls, cat or dog toys, dish soap, bleach, and paper towels.
