Tonganoxie ? De Soto High freshman Mason Wedel scored 22 points and hit four threes off the bench to lead the Wildcats boys basketball team to a 68-47 victory over Jeff West in the first round of the Tonganoxie Invitational on Monday.

De Soto built a 10-point lead in the first quarter and outscored the Tigers, 22-5, in the second period. Jamel Townsend scored 15 for De Soto (6-3), and Brandan Philbrook added 10.

De Soto will play the winner of the Lansing-Atchison game at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Tonganoxie.
