Olathe South defeats LHS girls, 50-35

Olathe — Lawrence High has two weeks before its next girls basketball game, and Lions coach Kristin Mallory saw plenty to work on after a 50-35 loss Thursday night to Olathe South.

“We obviously have to revamp some things,” Mallory said. “We just have a lot of work to do. We’ve got to find a way to get better defensively, and produce better offensively. We just have to get better.”

Taylor Bird led LHS with 17 points, and Jordyn Tolefree added eight.

Olathe South went to the free-throw line 27 times and hit 22, while the Lions were 7-of-8.

“Some of that was being aggressive,” Mallory said, “and some of that was us being caught out of position.”

The Lions (4-6) don’t play again until Jan. 29 in the Capital City Classic in Topeka.
