KU Air Force ROTC students to use fake rifles in exercise this afternoon

Kansas University’s Air Force ROTC cadets will use dummy rifles as they participate in a training exercise this afternoon on West Campus.

The ROTC cadets often use the them for certain exercises. The rubber objects are shaped like rifles to give cadets a realistic feel during the exercise.

But the public should not be alarmed, KU spokeswoman Jill Jess said.

“They’re not shooting anything,” Jess said.

The exercise is scheduled to last until 6 p.m.
