Old Home Town – 25 years ago

City officials were looking to the private sector as a way to get a new airport terminal project off the ground. Plans for a $690,000 terminal building at Lawrence Municipal Airport had been idling since the past July. So the city commission was considering a private financing route to get the job done.

City utility director Roger Coffey was preparing proposals to tighten safety standards at the Clinton Water Treatment Plant. A recent fatality at the site had pushed the safety rules study and updating process.
