This week, “Home and Away” host Lori Carson goes in search of the latest and greatest in home innovations as she browses the booths of the 2009 Lawrence Home Show.

“The focus of this year’s show is energy efficiency and green building,” says Bobbie Flory, executive director of the Lawrence Home Builders Association, which sponsors the event.

Among the more than 70 exhibitors, Kring’s Interiors designer Jana Flory discusses the advantages of eco-friendly flooring, including a surprising source for earth-conscious carpet … recycled pop bottles.

Blown-in blanket system insulation is on display at the Black Gold booth while, a few aisles over, Ground Source president Tim Dugan explains how a geothermal system operates.

Pella Windows offers modern, energy-saving windows that won’t sacrifice the character of older homes, while Jane Bateman Interiors Store decks the windows with insulating blinds and elaborate treatments featuring ornate trim details.
