Dole Institute series on Lincoln to begin

The 2009 Presidential Lecture Series is set to begin this weekend at the Dole Institute of Politics.

This year’s series focuses on Abraham Lincoln, commemorating the bicentennial year of his birth.

The series begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday with a speech from Richard Norton Smith, the former director of the Dole Institute and former director of the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Ill.

Norton’s speech, “Lincoln at 200: The Measure of a President,” will be followed by a book signing.

The event is free and open to the public, as are three upcoming events featuring additional Lincoln experts and biographers
