Manhattan hospice to open in February

? Work is nearly complete on Riley County’s first hospice care center.

The 12-bed facility will be called The Good Shepherd Hospice House. A Manhattan couple who donated $500,000 to the building campaign picked the name.

The couple were among more than 580 individuals, businesses and foundations who contributed.

The facility will open at the beginning of February.

Homecare & Hospice in Manhattan conducted the capital campaign and says the care center will be the first of its kind in Riley County.

Currently, the nearest hospice houses are in Topeka and Salina.
