Kan. Senate makes changes to committees after resignation

? The Kansas Senate is rearranging some committee assignments following the resignation of a senator from Johnson County.

Republican David Wysong of Mission Hills resigned earlier this month for family reasons. Wysong chaired the Senate Commerce Committee and served on the budget-writing Ways and Means Committee.

Senate leaders have chosen Republican Karin Brownlee of Olathe to chair the Commerce Committee, which will now handle economic development issues. A new Business and Labor Select Committee will take over unemployment and workers’ compensation issues. Wichita Republican Susan Wagle will chair that panel.

The vacancy on the Ways and Means Committee will be filled by Louisburg Republican Pat Apple.
