From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 22, 1909: Football coach Bert Kennedy of the Kansas football team told a Daily World interviewer today he favors the older style of play to the new, more wide open style that he fears can be more injurious to players. He said the forward pass and the onside kick “are the two most dangerous plays ever devised for the game. Many a man is injured by being hit by men when he has his arms outstretched, waiting to receive a pass.” . . . The Uncle Sam Oil Co. had no trouble laying its pipeline across Kasnas from Oklahoma to Kansas City until it reached Douglas County. Farmers around Eudora threaten to get an injunction unless the company buries the line. This may delay the pipe-laying for many months. . . . Coach W.O. Hamilton of the Kansas basketball team has weeded out his squad and says KU will have a very strong team this year.
