Governor’s office returns to traditional location

? Gov. Mark Parkinson and some of his staff are moving their offices in the Statehouse — back to where they belong.

Governors traditionally have occupied a suite on the south wing of the building’s second floor.

But in July 2008, an ongoing renovation of the Statehouse forced the governor’s office into the north wing.

Parkinson and his aides expect the move back to be completed Monday.

There’s a new green, tan and earth-toned color scheme for the suite and lots of overly busy but historic patterns on walls and ceilings. Workers discovered white marble trim for the floors that had been covered by carpet.

The Statehouse renovation began in 2001 and is expected to be finished in 2012, at a cost of at least $285 million.
