Obamas’ dog Bo has own Christmas stocking

Washington — Bo, the White House dog, has his very own Christmas stocking.

First lady Michelle Obama made the revelation in an interview with Oprah Winfrey for her “Christmas at the White House” special, scheduled to air Sunday night on ABC. Winfrey’s company, Harpo Productions, released excerpts of the interview on Friday.

Asked which members of the Obama family have a stocking, Mrs. Obama named President Barack Obama, herself, daughters Malia and Sasha and said “of course” the family’s Portuguese water dog has one too. This will be the first Christmas for the puppy, which the Obamas got in April.

She did not give any details about what might be going into Bo’s stocking, but said Santa loves Bo.

Diane Sawyer exits from ‘GMA’

New York — Diane Sawyer exited ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Friday with an emotional moment that recalled the biggest story of her time on the show: meeting the children born after their fathers were killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

It was a sobering interlude during a nostalgic two hours of video clips, celebrity goodbyes and tearful hugs. The morning news show devoted almost its entire broadcast to a salute to Sawyer, who is replacing her retiring former partner, Charles Gibson, as “World News” anchor.

The reunion of 9/11 children recalled how “Good Morning America” brought them together as babies on the first anniversary of the attack. The twin girls that Sawyer held in both arms that day, now 8, walked on the set carrying roses.

“Thank you and bless you,” Sawyer said.

Sawyer will be replaced by ABC’s chief Washington correspondent, George Stephanopoulos, on Monday. He was all business during his first appearance on the set Friday, contributing to a story about five Americans with alleged terrorist links who were detained in Pakistan. Then Sawyer showed him the ropes, promising to clean out the on-set drawer she had stuffed with hand sanitizer, brushes and the like.

“We’ll do a full suck-up here,” Stephanopoulos said. “I am scared to death to follow you in this job.”

Liza Minnelli not over the rainbow for ‘Oz’

New York — “The Wizard of Oz” is a family favorite, but the film — celebrating it’s 70th anniversary this year — isn’t on Liza Minnelli’s must-watch list.

Minnelli says it’s tough to watch because of the fictional horrors her mother, Judy Garland, endures.

She said: “I just loved her so, and for some reason ‘The Wizard of Oz’ bothers me when I see it. They do terrible things to her. … That’s ’cause it’s my mom.”

Minnelli reflected on “The Wizard of Oz” while reflecting on her special, “Liza’s At The Palace.” It captures her 2008 Tony-winning play and airs on public television stations this month.

Reality show mom gives birth to 19th kid

Little Rock, Ark. — An Arkansas couple featured on the reality TV show “18 Kids and Counting” now has 19.

Cable network TLC says 43-year-old Michelle Duggar gave birth to a 1-pound, 6-ounce daughter Thursday night during an emergency cesarean section. She’d been due March 18.

TLC says the child is in stable condition at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

The network airs the show starring Duggar, her 44-year-old husband and their brood. It says the Duggars named their 19th child and ninth daughter Josie Brooklyn. The Duggars’ first grandchild was born Oct. 8.
