Man arrested for aggravated battery after fight at party

Victim treated at LMH for facial laceration

A 19-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Sunday morning on charges of aggravated battery after an incident that sent a 20-year-old KU student to the hospital.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Ted Bordman, the victim was attending a party at a residence in the 1100 block of Ohio when he was punched by one of the party’s hosts. The victim transported himself to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for a serious laceration to his upper lip.

Police originally responded to a report of a fight at the residence at 1:16 a.m. but the victim had already departed for the hospital. After receiving a call to LMH and speaking with the victim later Sunday morning, police returned to the location of the incident and arrested the suspect. The suspect was listed in the KU student directory.
