Wichita ? A Wichita woman has received the maximum sentence for voluntary manslaughter in the death of her 2-year-old stepdaughter.

A Sedgwick County judge on Friday sentenced Katie Cornejo to 71 months in prison.

Cornejo was originally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Daytona Robertson. The little girl died after being taken to a hospital in February 2008 with severe injuries.

Jurors in Cornejo’s murder trial in April were unable to agree on a verdict. She pleaded to the reduced charge of voluntary manslaughter in October.
