100 years ago: Eldridge hotel up to standards

From the Lawrence Daily World for Aug. 28, 1909: “The Eldridge Hotel of Lawrence is one of the few in the area to measure up to the health and sanitation regulations of Kansas. Many hotels and restaurants have received unfavorable inspections but the Eldridge passed the various inspections recently. … Lawsuits are planned by people who promised to donate four years ago to the YMCA but who have not met their pledges. Most paid their notes but others are to have legal action against them.”
