Ex-prison guard gets break for testimony

? A former Kansas prison guard romantically involved with one of two inmates she helped escape won’t have to serve all of her original five-year sentence.

A federal judge last week granted Amber Lynn Goff a one-year reduction of her sentence on a firearms conviction stemming from the October 2007 escape from the El Dorado Correctional Facility.

Prosecutors had requested the new sentence because of Goff’s help in the federal prosecution of inmate Steven Ford in New Mexico.

An addendum to Goff’s plea agreement also reveals that she agreed to provide information about security lapses at the El Dorado prison and testify in related cases.
