A free health fair will be offered in McLouth.

It will be from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Leavenworth Jefferson Electric Cooperative at 507 N. Union. McLouth is about 24 miles north of Lawrence.

Blood pressure and cholesterol screenings will be available, as well as reviews of height, weight and body mass index.

Information will be available for chiropractic services, eye care, nutrition, hearing, physical therapy and organ donation. Bank and investment representatives also will be on hand to review your financial health.

Flu shots will be available from the Red Cross for $25. Medicare recipients can have the Red Cross bill Medicare directly for the cost of the shot. If you intend to get a flu shot, please make a reservation by calling 888-796-6111 by Aug. 28.

Also, there will be a food drive for area agencies, including the Good Shepherd Thrift Store in Tonganoxie, Catholic Community Services in Leavenworth, and Jefferson County Service Organization in Oskaloosa. Participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items.
