One developer drops out of Kansas casino competition

? The Kansas Lottery’s top official says one casino proposal for Sumner County has been dropped.

Executive Director Ed Van Petten said Tuesday that Lottery officials have been told two prospective developers are now jointly pursuing a single proposal.

Their competing projects had involved Foxwoods Development Co., of St. Louis, and Topeka-based South Central Gaming Partners. Van Petten said they’re combining around the Foxwoods proposal.

Separately, Minnesota-based Lakes Entertainment Inc. is pursuing a Sumner County casino.

The Kansas Lottery Commission plans to meet Wednesday to review casino development proposals for Sumner and Wyandotte counties. The panel will decide how many are forwarded to a casino selection board.
