KU graduate named USA Today publisher

David Hunke, a 1974 journalism graduate of Kansas University, has been named the publisher of USA Today.

Hunke currently is the CEO of the Detroit Media Partnership and publisher of the Detroit Free Press. He will succeed Craig Moon, who retired on April 17.

USA Today is the flagship newspaper and Web site of the Gannett Co. Inc., with a daily readership circulation of more than 3.5 million people annually.

He is also a member of the William Allen White Foundation Board of Trustees.
