Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for April 23, 1909: “It is still ‘tomorrow’ on the electric street car issue and although the parties say they are near an agreement the negotiations continue to drag out. … A Tonganoxie man wearing a diamond ring worth more than $300 fell asleep in a Kansas City saloon and was robbed of his fine diamond while he dozed. … A woman in Perry reportedly almost died due to ptomaine poisoning following a dinner but is reported in good condition now.”
