LJWorld.com and Lawrence.com are finalists for EPpy Awards, an international program recognizing the best in online sites and content.

Both sites are part of The World Company, a Lawrence-based media operation whose Web sites have won an EPpy award each year since 2003.

The awards program, now in its 14th year, is conducted by Editor & Publisher and Mediaweek magazines. Winners will be announced May 7 during the annual Interactive Newspaper Conference and Trade Show in New Orleans.

LJWorld.com is a finalist for Best News Web Site with fewer than 1 million unique monthly visitors, a category it won last year. Other finalists are Arizona Daily Star (azstarnet.com) and NationalJournal.com.

Lawrence.com is a finalist for Best Design of a Web Site with fewer than 1 million unique monthly visitors. Other finalists are PrepZone (naplesnews.com), and Spokesman.com.

Other media companies with more than one finalist this year include The New York Times, CNN, Business Week and The Wall Street Journal.
