Haskell hosting wellness fair

Healthy diets, the dangers of drunken driving and tornado safety are among topics that will appear at the 10th annual Health, Safety and Wellness fair at Haskell Indian Nations University.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the Coffin Sports Complex, 155 Indian Ave.

More than 50 vendors will provide information on preventive services such as cholesterol screening, diabetes determinants and the latest physical therapy treatments.

Staff members from Lawrence Memorial Hospital and the Lawrence Police Department will attend. Police officers will demonstrate the dangers of drinking and driving, courtesy of virtual reality experiences with the “drunk goggles.”

The Community Mercantile will have a booth that include healthy snacks for sampling.
