Kaw Valley Farm Tour set for this weekend

From taking a hay ride to tasting bison, there’s something for everyone on this weekend’s annual Kaw Valley Farm Tour.

There are 15 farms on the tour, which is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The farms produce a variety of items, including nuts, fruits, wines, flowers, pumpkins, bison, honey and wool products. Special activities will include horse-drawn hay rides, opportunities to sample and purchase farm-fresh foods, educational tours, wine tastings and children’s games.

A $10 pass provides a carload entrance to all the farms for the weekend.

Tickets for the tour may be purchased at The Community Mercantile, 901 Iowa; Lawrence Visitor Center, 402 N. Second St.; Douglas County K-State Research and Extension office, 2110 Harper St.; Lawrence Farmers’ Market; or at any participating farm.

A Breakfast on the Farm will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday at Pendleton’s Country Market, 1446 E. 1850 Road. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and are available at The Merc.
