No disciplinary action is expected to be taken against a Kansas University fraternity or sorority or any of members, after a freshman fraternity member was injured during a serenading at the sorority that involved alcohol, university officials said.

“There has been no complaint made to initiate an investigation or any disciplinary action,” said Todd Cohen, university spokesman. “It was an accident and, fortunately, the injuries were not severe.”

The Phi Gamma Delta fraternity member was injured the evening of Sept. 10, after falling at the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house, 1 Gower Place, Cohen said. The student, who chipped a tooth after hitting his head, was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Cohen said the sorority was not involved in any way and that a group of fraternity men just showed up at the sorority house to serenade the women.

The fraternity men were not involved in any official function and were not on campus property at the time of the incident, Cohen said.

“(It) does not appear any rules were broken,” he said.
