Free State falls

SM Northwest defeats Firebirds, 34-27

The Free State High football team lost to Shawnee Mission Northwest, 34-27, at Shawnee Mission North District Stadium.

Firebird tailback Chucky Hunter rushed for two touchdowns in the first half and one in the second. Free State quarterback Camren Torneden also threw a touchdown pass to Aundre Allen in the second half.

The loss drops Free State to 1-2. Shawnee Mission Northwest, the defending Sunflower League Champion, improves to 2-1.
