Natural gas line broken in 800 block of Louisiana

A Black Hills Energy crew is working to repair a broken, two-inch natural gas line Thursday morning in the 800 block of Louisiana Street.

Lawrence Douglas County Fire and Medical workers at 9:30 a.m. Thursday responded to a report that a construction crew – unaffiliated with the natural gas company – struck the line.

Curt Floerchinger, a Black Hills spokesman, said at 10 a.m. that no one was without service in the area and that crews did not detect any public danger.

“The fire department is there. Our crews are there. There’s no danger to the surrounding area,” he said.

A Black Hills crew is waiting to receive a part to repair the line, Floerchinger said.
