Won By One

Won By One
By Robert Joseph Iron Eyes

One by one our poems are read.
One by one we feel pride in what we write.
One by one we put the words onto paper.
One by one we say the words out loud.
A little reverse to the one by one.
As I jot down these thoughts one by one.
I mark off my days one by one.
And see the weeks pass one by one.
I see people leave here one by one.
And when I go home, I’ll take the days one by one.
And if I stay out of trouble it will be won by one.
