Key advisers

To the editor:

This is about critics and other naysayers who frequently allude to the “thin resumes” of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

It should be noted that former Presidents Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush all lacked experience in national security, as well as foreign affairs prior to becoming president.

Former Presidents Reagan and Clinton surrounded themselves with competent Cabinet members and other advisers, listened well and often acted upon their advice.

Interestingly, President George W. Bush listens mostly to first lady Laura Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and for the dinner bell.
