New exhibit opens at KU Bookstores

Clinton Ricketts, a graduate student in Kansas University’s art department, will exhibit new prints Tuesday through Nov. 21 in the KU Bookstores, level two of the Kansas Union. The art show’s opening reception is from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, and is free and open to the public.

Ricketts is a Kansas native and earned a bachelor’s degree at KU. After living in Chicago for five years, he recently returned to earn a Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis in printmaking. Ricketts received a Clyde Bonebrake Lockwood and Ward Lockwood Art Scholarship as well as a Daniel MacMorris Scholarship during the KU art department’s annual spring exhibition and competition in May 2008. His current work portrays a dreamlike view of pop culture and a personal narrative told through characters such as monsters, hippies and awkward nudes.
