Judge orders Redmond O’Neal into detox

Los Angeles – A judge has ordered the 23-year-old son of actor Ryan O’Neal back to rehab weeks after he and his father were arrested on suspicion of drug possession.

Redmond O’Neal appeared in a Malibu courtroom Wednesday on a probation violation for a previous drug conviction.

Judge Scott Millington ordered O’Neal into a two-week detox program after he admitted he had relapsed, court records show.

He was sentenced to three years’ probation in June after pleading guilty to heroin and methamphetamine possession.

Neither O’Neal nor his father have been charged after being arrested Sept. 17 on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine. Deputies searched the O’Neals’ home in Malibu as part of Redmond’s probation and found drugs on him and in Ryan O’Neal’s living area.

Ryan O’Neal’s attorney has denied that any of the drugs belonged to the actor.

Ryan O’Neal, 67, was nominated for a best actor Oscar for “Love Story.” Redmond is his son from a relationship with actress Farrah Fawcett.

Even Britney Spears questions her behavior

New York – If you’re wondering what was going through Britney Spears’ head during her erratic era, you are not alone – so does she.

“I sit there and I look back and I’m like, ‘I’m a smart person. What the hell was I thinking?”‘ Spears said in an interview to air on MTV on Nov. 30, two days before the release of her new album. “I’ve been through a lot in the past two or three years, and there’s a lot that people don’t know.”

The 90-minute special, “Britney: For The Record,” was executive-produced by Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph. It features behind-the-scenes footage of the singer and her talking about her life over the past two years.

She’s got a lot to talk about: In that time span, she has gotten divorced, been through a custody battle, gone to rehab, had very public meltdowns and had one memorably bad performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Now on the comeback trail, Spears is releasing her sixth album, “Circus,” on Dec. 2, her 27th birthday.

Spears says she’s hoping this TV special will “set the record straight” about her life.

Metallica drummer sells Basquiat painting

New York – Lars Ulrich, songwriter and drummer for the heavy-metal band Metallica, is selling a Jean-Michel Basquiat painting from his art collection that could set a new auction record for the artist, Christie’s said Friday.

“Untitled (Boxer),” shown above, was painted in 1982 by Basquiat, a graffiti artist who died of a drug overdose in 1988 when he was 27. It depicts a black heavyweight fighter with his arms thrust in the air against a graffiti-filled background.

Christie’s will offer the work on Nov. 12 as part of its Post War and Contemporary Art sale. Its pre-sale estimate is more than $12 million.

The current auction record for a Basquiat is $14.6 million for “Untitled,” which depicts a primitive figure with large hands. It sold at Sotheby’s last year.

“Untitled (Boxer)” was the highlight of a 2005 Basquiat retrospective that was shown at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.

Ulrich, who collects contemporary art, 20th-century design and tribal art, has owned the painting for 10 years.

In 2002, Ulrich sold another Basquiat work at Christie’s, “Profit I,” which fetched $5.5 million and was a record until “Untitled” sold in 2007.

Jolie says Pitt changed her mind on pregnancy

New York – Angelina Jolie, an advocate of adoption, credits partner Brad Pitt with her decision to have biological children.

In an interview with W magazine, Jolie says: “One of the life-changing things that he did, one of many, is that I was absolutely never going to get pregnant. I never felt that it was the right thing to do.”

She says she changed her mind while watching Pitt bond with adopted children Maddox and Zahara.

“He stopped talking about having other kids in the other way,” she says in the magazine’s November issue. “So I suppose in my heart I realized he was happy with them as his children, completely. I knew he would never see them as different, and that gave me a certain peace.”

After that revelation, “I suppose I just looked at him and loved him and just felt open to (getting pregnant). I suddenly wanted to. It’s one of those things you can’t explain,” she says.

The couple welcomed daughter Shiloh in May 2006 and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline in July.

“Now I wouldn’t trade that experience for the world,” Jolie says. “It taught me a lot about life, just the process of it, and now we have three other beautiful children that wouldn’t otherwise be here.”
