Manhattan – Kansas State coach Frank Martin used three words to describe his team’s performance in an 88-68 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Sunday.

Selfish. Lethargic. Lackadaisical.

Although Southeast Missouri State never threatened to take over the game, it outrebounded Kansas State in the second half, 28-16.

Fred Brown led Kansas State with 21 points. Jamar Samuels had 16, and Dominique Sutton added 12.

Nebraska 63, San Jose State 46

Lincoln, Neb. – Toney McCray came off the bench to score 17 points and grab nine rebounds, and Nebraska used a 17-point flurry over two minutes in the second half to put away San Jose State.

The Cornhuskers (1-0) missed 14 of their first 16 shots after halftime, but dominated on defense with 16 steals: four apiece by Brandon Richardson and Sek Henry and three by Cookie Miller.

Texas A&M 76, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 47

College Station, Texas – Guard Josh Carter started hot and stayed that way, scoring 23 points as Texas A&M defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the Aggies’ season opener.

Carter finished 5-of-9 on three-pointers, while his teammates shot 2-of-14 from the three-point line.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff shot 32 percent from the field against the Aggies’ stifling defense.

Iowa State 79, Wisconsin-Milwaukee 61

Ames, Iowa – Craig Brackins scored 18 points, and Iowa State beat Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the conclusion of the World Vision Classic.

Diante Garrett scored 17 points and had nine rebounds for Iowa State, and Bryan Petersen added 10 points and six assists for ISU (3-0).

Ricky Franklin scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
