Some of your favorite features about LJWorld.com, KUSports.com and Lawrence.com will be unavailable Wednesday night as we complete a major upgrade to the back end of our Web site.

Between 8 p.m. Wednesday and about 5 a.m. Thursday, comments, polls and other interactive features of our Web sites will be unavailable. You still will be able to read stories, watch videos and look at pictures, but you’ll have to save your comments until we’ve completed our upgrades.

We’re doing this so all of our sites can communicate with one another better and, in the future, to enable us to roll out new features you want to all three sites at the same time.

The upgrades also will provide us the tools to launch rebuilt versions of Lawrence.com and KUSports.com in the near future. When those new sites launch, you’ll be able to take advantage of new fan blogs, social networking tools and other organizational changes that make it easier to find much of our multimedia content.

If you find any bugs in the new sites after Thursday morning, please let us know.
