Free State tennis doubles second at regionals

Four days after the meet’s first serve, the Free State High boys tennis team finished second at a Class 6A regional tournament on Monday.

Last Thursday at the Lawrence Tennis Center, rain caused meet officials to push back the championship and third-place matches of the doubles bracket to Monday.

Olathe East won the regional.

In the title match, East’s Trevor Bond and Alex Small knocked off Free State’s Charlie Moffet and Blaine Kaehr, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

In the third-place match, East’s Chris Patton and Taylor Wofford knocked of Lawence High’s Ryan Abbott and Taylor Seratte, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Both city doubles teams will compete at the Class 6A state tourney this weekend in Goddard.
