From the Lawrence Daily World for March 25, 1908: Scientists at the university continue to warn about the bad quality of water in the city system and contend we are fortunate there have not been serious ailments because of the pollution and scum that can be found. The water company officials say these charges are not correct. : George Innes, president of the school board, asks for more funds for improvement of schools where there are fire hazards. He also asked for help in getting low rates for the $40,000 in manual school bonds.”
