Overland Park ? The Lawrence High boys golf team opened the spring Monday with a 10th-place finish at the Blue Valley West Invitational. Free State placed 18th out of 20 teams at Lions Gate Country Club.

Spencer Scott led the Lions with an 80, while Alex Thompson shot an 85.

Joey Sakamura led the Firebirds with a 96, followed by Evan Schmidt with a 101.

Shawnee Mission East won with a team score of 315. LHS shot a 347; FSHS shot a 411.

Lawrence will play again March 31 in the Shawnee Mission Northwest tournament at Lake Quivira Country Club.

Free State will play again April 7 at Manhattan High.
