Meche effective as K.C. clips Giants

? Gil Meche matched his career-high for strikeouts last season with 156. Thus far in spring training, he only has one, not that he’s too concerned.

Meche allowed two hits in three shutout innings Wednesday during the Kansas City Royals’ 3-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

“I’d like to eventually start getting into that time where I can get to two strikes and put a guy away when I need to,” Meche said.
