Road work petitions on county agenda

The pros and cons of establishing or extending county roads – if property owners submit a petition – will be among topics discussed tonight by the Douglas County Commission.

Commissioners will hold a work session with county planning staff and other officials when they meet at 6:35 p.m. on the second floor of the courthouse, 1100 Mass.

In December, commissioners placed a moratorium on establishing new roads or extending existing ones. They said they needed more information to determine when it was in the public’s interest to grant such road requests.

Commissioners also plan to discuss:

¢ Amending a road-surfacing requirement in county subdivision regulations for residential development inside the urban growth area.

¢ Conflicts between property access management regulations and county zoning regulations.
