Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for June 24, 1908: “The local Eagles lodge was raided by officers last night and a substantial amount of liquor was confiscated. Some prominent citizens were among ‘those present.’ The Eagles had promised not to keep liquor but clearly forgot their promise, thus the surprise raid. : The annual commencement exercises a Haskell Institute were held this morning with 43 graduates getting diplomas. There is substantial enthusiasm for the 25-year celebrations planned for next year.”
