Summer concerts continue in city

Summer concerts are under way in Lawrence.

The Lawrence City Band will play a concert, as part of its summer concert series, at 8 p.m. today at South Park’s William Kelly Bandstand.

The show is free and open to the public.

The band will perform a Chautauqua concert, featuring Lawrence in the 1930s. Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Arnald D. Gabriel will be a guest conductor, and Michael Davidson will be a trombone soloist.

The Lawrence City Band’s concert series takes places at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through July 16 at South Park.

The parks department’s Summer Brown Bag Concert Series continues on Thursday, from noon to 1 p.m., with the Key West Jazz Quartet playing in front of U.S. Bank, 900 Mass.

The concert is free and open to the public. The series takes place every Thursday afternoon through July 31.
