Kinky Friedman, a Texas-based writer, singer, songwriter, commentator, humorist and politician, is scheduled to appear Friday in Lawrence to discuss his latest venture: cigars.

Friedman, the name behind Kinky Friedman Cigar Co., will appear from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Centro Cigars, 1520 Wakarusa Drive, Suite E. He will meet with customers, light up cigars, sign autographs and discuss politics – in 2006 he ran as an independent for governor of Texas – or whatever else folks have on their minds.
