Atlanta – Hanley Ramirez hit two homers, including a two-run shot in a four-run ninth inning.

Mike Rabelo hit a tying two-run homer in the ninth as Manny Acosta blew a 4-2 lead. Acosta recorded only one out while giving up four hits, three for extra bases, and four runs for his second blown save in five opportunities.

Brewers 10, Diamondbacks 1

Milwaukee – Corey Hart hit a three-run, inside-the-park homer and Russell Branyan followed with a conventional shot to lift the surging Brewers.

Mets 5, Giants 3

San Francisco – Jose Reyes hit a leadoff double, then homered and singled to help John Maine and New York beat San Francisco.

Reyes scored twice and Carlos Beltran added a two-run double as the Mets won the rubber game.

Rockies 2, Dodgers 1

Los Angeles – Aaron Cook pitched eight sharp innings and gave up one run, while Jeff Baker drove in both Colorado runs with his first home run of the season.

Reds 2, Phillies 0

Philadelphia – Joey Votto’s two-out RBI double in the seventh inning spoiled Brett Myers’ bid for a no-hitter, and Cincinnati beat Philadelphia behind another impressive start by Edinson Volquez.

Volquez (8-2) allowed two hits, struck out eight, walked two and hit two batters in seven innings, lowering his ERA to a major league best 1.32.

A sellout crowd hoping to see Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 600th homer saw an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel.

Junior wasn’t in the Reds’ lineup for the third consecutive game because of a sore left knee. For the second straight game, he walked as a pinch hitter in the eighth, and pitcher Bronson Arroyo ran for him.

Cardinals-Nationals, PPD

Washington – Wednesday night’s game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals was rained out and will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader today.

The game never had a chance. Heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by sporadic tornado warnings, blanketed the area from mid-afternoon well into the evening. Spectacular lightning displays above the Capitol dome were visible from the upper deck of the new Nationals Park.

Pirates 5, Astros 2

Pittsburgh – Zach Duke allowed two runs over 72â3 innings, and Raul Chavez drove in three runs to lead the Pirates to a victory over the Astros.

Duke (3-4) gave up seven hits, struck out two and walked two. He was lifted after allowing a two-out walk to Miguel Tejada in the eighth. The left-hander won for the first time in seven career starts against Houston.

Padres 2, Cubs 1

San Diego – Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning and Greg Maddux and two relievers combined on a three-hitter as San Diego snapped Chicago’s nine-game winning streak.
