Dog Days sessions begin this morning

Red Dog’s Dog Days – a 25-year tradition – returns today to Kansas University’s Memorial Stadium.

The conditioning program will be led by Don “Red Dog” Gardner. The workout varies each session but consists of calisthenics and a one- to three-mile run.

The 2008 sessions will be at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the stadium. Sessions generally last 30 to 45 minutes.

Starting July 1, sessions will be at 6 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, also at the stadium. Saturday runs will begin at 7 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., starting at the southeastern corner of the parking lot at the Lied Center.

Participants need to sign a waiver, which can be found at www.reddogsdogdays.org.

Gardner encourages participants to arrive early and to bring a bottle of water and positive attitude.
