World Company names new corporate advertising director

The World Company has promoted Tony Berg to corporate advertising director.

Berg, who has been the Lawrence company’s local sales manager, takes over for Sara Wilhelm, who last month was appointed vice president of sales and development for Mediaphormedia, which is The World Company’s interactive and software division.

As corporate advertising director, Berg is responsible for all advertising offerings and operations for three of the company’s media platforms: newspapers, including the Journal-World and seven weekly newspapers; cable television, through Sunflower Broadband; and Web sites, such as www.LJWorld.com and its local search directory, Lawrence Marketplace.

Berg said that clients would continue receiving quality service that met their needs, through television, online and print advertising packages of value.

“We’re going to create cost-efficient, effective multimedia campaigns that deliver results for our customers on an individual level,” Berg said.

Berg, 30, joined the company in 2001 as a local sales representative, starting work two days after receiving his bachelor’s degrees in journalism and communications from Kansas University. He became local sales manager in 2005.

“I’m excited to take the people that we have, focus on their strengths, and use those strengths to deliver great results for our customers,” Berg said. “We have great people who work at this company, and utilizing their strengths will help us move forward.”

Al Bonner, Journal-World general manager, announced Berg’s promotion Thursday.

“Tony brings a great deal of experience, creativity and knowledge of the market to his new position,” Bonner said. “I am confident that under Tony’s leadership The World Company will continue to create innovative new products and services that provide our advertising customers with excellent quality and results.”
